About Us

Kenya Mpya is a movement of Kenyans that seeks to bring about an issue-based, people-centered, result oriented and democratic leadership in the county as a key for accelerated national development. The movement is not a political front for any party or individual but seeks to be a catalyst for achieving Vision 2030 within the counties. Kenya Mpya believes that for Kenya to achieve Vision 2030, the Vision must be cascaded to the county level, owned and driven by the citizens who will in turn be a catalyst towards achieving it.

Our Mission is to support counties achieve of Vision 2030 by  maintaining a sustainable economic growth of the county of 10% per annum over the next 25 years, create a just and cohesive society enjoying equitable social development in a clean and secure environment and issue-based, people-centred, result-oriented, and accountable democratic political leadership.

Kenya Mpya is currently a partnership between the Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat, Transition Authority, I Choose Life – Africa, Media Focus on Africa and International Budget Partnerships (IBP). In addition, Kenya Mpya has also gained support from government agencies involved in devolution. These include: National Economic and Social Council (NESC), Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) and together with Ministry of State for Planning, Development and Vision 2030.

The overall objective of Kenya Mpya is to equip the counties to deliver Vision 2030 and support the decentralization process of the government.  Through an open and competitive process, Kenya Mpya has selected 10 Model Counties to participate in the programme: Homa Bay, Kericho, Kiambu, Mombasa, Machakos, Meru, Narok, TaitaTaveta, Nakuru and Wajir.

Kenya Mpya will work to achieve the following specific objectives:
1.    To facilitate development and dissemination of community owned and led strategic frameworks that ensure community prioritization and give a road map for people focused development aligned to Vision 2030.
2.    To support the process of identifying competent leaders of integrity who are capable of delivering county strategic frameworks through social vetting using the Leadership Selection Score Card, media program and social change.
